Diamond

Diamond is a minimalistic, powerful, and modern Javascript runtime that uses Deno_Core.

Installation

Diamond is currently in beta(not even Alpha!) and can't be currently installed. But you can build from source with Make build, and it will output an executable file called Diamond that you can use!

Usage

Diamond is build on Javascript, and is like it in almost every single way. But there are a couple things changed, for example, the console.log that we all know, has been changed, to println, and to use it:

println("Hello, world!");

But don't worry JS developers who don't want to leave things like console, we have options in the CLI that enable it!

    The cli right now, is pretty trash. While it does work, it is super unorganized, and doesn’t make to much sense or look nice. This should be changed and the main.rs file should become runtime.rs and the main.rs will become repurposed for the CLI

  • Make require functions better

    Make require functions better

    Require functions read a file based on your current cwd. For packages, or even distribution, this doesn’t work super well, as they wouldn’t be able to find the file. But there is a solution.

    The way diamond reads code also provides data on the absolute path of the file. If we can provide send the data of the file ran, to a function, it would be able to create an op that would use the absolute path of the file ran, to get it. The bad news is that we would need to create a path module for the require function, or create another op that does just that.
